biographical info

the ashgrove create indie pop-rock infusing elements of Brit-pop and psychedelic classic rock. Passion and intensity draw comparisons to U2 and Radiohead - due in large part to vocalist Jeremy Jongejan's soaring heart-felt vocal style and the echoed ambient melodies streaming from the guitar amplifiers of Ryan Buckley. The rhythm is provided by drummer Rick Lobb and bassist William Snowden. After releasing 1000 Summers in August of 2004 - the band are nearing completion of a new release. All signs point to a more aggresive and dynamic album - taking cues from ambient Brit noise-masters My Bloody Valentine - but tempered with the songwriting skills of bands like Doves and Elbow. HISTORY: The Ashgrove's "Photo Album" launched 3 singles onto playlists at commercial radio stations across Canada, including FM96 (London), K106.3 (Sarnia), The Rock (Chatham) and FM94 (Prince George, BC). "Never Change" spent 3 weeks on the "Top 5 Request" chart at FM94 and the video received frequent play on Much Music's Indie Spotlight. Songs from Photo Album also received play on stations such as CFOX (Vancouver), CJAY (Calgary), Edge 102 (Toronto) and CHOM-FM (Montreal). Licensing opportunities presented themselves when TV programs such as Dawson's Creek, Hack, Party of Five, and a made for TV movie "Fast Food High" all used songs in their programming. Recently the band was asked to include Photo Album's 'Some Way Out' on the DVD Box Set of the First Season of Joan of Arcadia.
