You will hear familiar strains of every musical genre from classical to surf rock, Gypsy jazz to flamenco, tribal rhythms to big city blues, all blended together into a musical mosaic that is truly captivating and contagious.

Marc Novoselec and Dan Allen come by the name String Fever honestly; music is both their passion and their voice. Music is the only truly Global language which rises above social-political boundaries and even time itself. Marc and Dan have dedicated themselves to celebrating this Global vernaculare in both their highly creative arrangemnts of classical, ethnic and contemporary pieces. String Fever brings this Global flavour to your local stage with style, drive and an unmatched musical viruosity.

The summer thus far

posted by StringFever
String Fever officially formed on a cool October night in 2008. Since then, we have assembled a list of more than 20 originals, arrangements of bands from Steely Dan to Johnny Cash and Django Reinhardt to Henry Mancini.  All of which have our unmistakeable, indellible and unstoppable Urban Gypsy finger print on them!

The winter was good for us, we played live every Friday and rehearsed religiously in every spare moment we could conjure. The product of our efforts culminated with the release of PRIMA in June of 2009, after only 8 months together as a duo, we had written and arranged our debut CD and put together more than 3 hours of live music.

Since the release of PRIMA, we have had the pleasure of bringing our music to some amazing, some not so amazing venues. From coffee bars, to house parties, wine festivals to boat cruises; String Fever has not had a dull day in many months! We took our dynamic-duo into some places that just did not get our music, metropolotain, cosmopolitain and even backwoods-o-polotain, they didn't know just what to make of us! How do you respond? Smile, play your heart out and leave nothing left unplayed.

But the good far outweigh the not so good experiences; at the Bobcaygeon Food and Wine Festival we sold out of all copies of PRIMA during our first set, as people gathered 'round our little gazebo of musical joy, danced, clapped, ate, drank and were merry! We played from 2pm to 4 pm without as much as a two minute break, we were both exhausted yet buzzing with creative energy! Then, we played another one hour set and breathed some fun and funky Urban Gypsy rhythms into a hot barn of revellers. Great day!

House parties are picking up now, a few cruises on the horizon, some corporate gigs are firming up, perhaps a Euro tour for 2010 and still more copies of PRIMA are being sold every day!  Things are good for String Fever right now!
