Solitair is a multi-talented artist whose abilities range from music production, to songwriting, to being one of the closest watched Mc’s coming out of the Tdot (Toronto). He has been composing professionally for over 10 years and his accomplishments have not gone unnoticed.
His first internationally released single, Easy 2 Slip from the Beat Factory compilation Rap Essentials 2001, was nominated for a Juno for Hip Hop recording of the year. The song quickly garnered ‘Canadian Hip Hop Classic’ status. He was again nominated for a Juno for his collaboration with R & B songstress Jully Black, & reggae artist Baby Cham on the song “The Day Before” from Baby Blue Soundcrew’s compilation album Private Party Vol.2 (Universal).
Among his several careeer landmarks, most notable are his production on Bakardi Slang, the 1st single from Kardinal Offishall’s debut American release on MCA records, Firestarter Vol. 1 – Quest for Fire. Aswell he co-produced over half the album. Bakardi Slang has enjoyed extensive commercial radio and video play both nationally & internationally.
His production on Juno award winner Choclair’s debut album, Ice Cold (Virgin Records) was instrumental in pushing the album to gold status in just 35 days. He also produced 5 tracks on Baby Blue Sound crew’s compilation albums, Private Party Vol.1 & 2 (Universal) including the song Only Be In Love with Juno nominee Glenn Lewis. He’s also worked with Sugar Jones from the TV show ‘Popstars’, producing the remix for the hit single Days Like That (Universal) as well making a guest appearance on the track.
Some of the artists he will be working with in the future read like a ‘who’s who’ list of the ‘New Breed’ in Music; Nina Sky, Daytona, Elephant Man, Jim Jones, Lil Wayne, Rick Ross, Cipha Sounds, & Kardinal Offishall.
His contribution to the Canadian music scene is undeniable, and his influence is being felt worldwide. He is a versatile artist whose scope of music goes way beyond the realm of ‘urban’. His potential is enormous, and his list of accomplishments keeps growing.
