To many of us Sky seems to have more than his fair share of obstacles to overcome. But that is not how he sees it. Sky has developed an extraordinary gift for music, and he believes that is because of, not in spite of, his disabilities.
Sky was born very prematurely, and the complications surrounding his birth have left him completely blind, profoundly deaf, with Cerebral Palsy, Autism, and a host of other physical and mental problems.
Sky hates the deafness and worries about it getting worse. That is the one condition he’d like to change. The other things don't bother him. In his late teens a pianist called Frank Cammisuli introduced Sky to a George Shearing CD and explained that George was blind from birth like Sky. Inspired by this, Sky quickly learned to play the piano, and especially the jazz classics. At age 19 Sky entered and won “Vancouver Island’s Got Talent”. As a result he is now mentored by jazz pianist George Essihos and is eagerly learning the techniques of audio recording from his friends at Oakstone Sound.
