biographical info
I'm working to bring classical music and classical instruments out of fancy concert halls and into the public spaces of the "real world". I want to BRING CLASSY BACK!!
My goal is to showcase the cello's diversity by engaging a variety of genres and demonstrate that there is so much more to "classical" music than Mozart and Beethoven. Western Art Music (aka "classical") and its instruments can be wickedly fiesty!
I started playing the cello when I was three and I've been playing ever since. I am currently in my final year of the Bachelor of Music program at UBC and although I'm classically trained, I've been a part of a punk band (Theta), performed with Persian composer Ali Ghamsari, and have collaborated with musicians within many different musical genres.
I currently teach cello at the Mozart School of Music, Tom Lee's Academy, as well as through my private studio on Commercial Drive. I provide lessons on a sliding scale so that all enthusiastic students have equal opportunity to learn, regardless of financial standing.
Clara is available for hire for various events, performances, recording sessions, and lessons. She provides her services on a sliding scale so please forward all inquiries to sidewalkcellist@hotmail.com.
