Sherman Downey and The Ambiguous Case have officially released their highly anticipated second album, The Sun In Your Eyes. The new album has everything folks have come to expect from Sherman and the boys - banjos, accordions, catchy melodies, smart lyrics, energy and a hint of lament.
Canadians recently voted the first single from The Sun In Your Eyes, “Thick As Thieves,” as the winner of CBC’s Searchlight Competition.
In a follow-up interview with CBC, Jian Ghomeshi rightfully calls Sherman’s musical journey “an amazing story”. The band formed four short years ago while recording Sherman’s debut album, Honey For Bees, which received several nominations for music industry awards including 5 MusicNL awards in addition to ECMA’s Group Recording of the Year and Rising Star Recording of the Year. CBC gravitated towards Sherman Downey and The Ambiguous Case immediately – playing multiple singles on Radio 2 ‘Drive,’ ‘Deep Roots', and featuring the band’s official release on ‘Concerts on Demand'.
Sherman and The Ambiguous Case’s upbeat folk/pop music has been gathering fans from coast to coast in Canada and as far away as Australia. The Band has played festivals like Evolve, Three Bear Open Air, Canadian Music Week, Indieweek, Blues Skies and Stewart Park.
The Sun In Your Eyes is available for purchase in St. John’s at Fred’s Records and O’Briens Music; various other outlets across the Island and coming soon to iTunes.
