biographical info
Raised in the small town of Creemore Ontario, Shelby Lamb has been active in the Toronto music scene for the last ten years.
The acclaimed Suburban Cowboy, Shelby's debut EP, was recorded at Ivy Laine Studio during the winter and spring of 2006 by Toronto-based recording engineer and musician Jesse Laine. The six-song EP, released by Familiar Music, features standout performances from some of Toronto's most talented and versatile musicians: Megan Hamilton, Craig Halliday, David Paoli and Laine.
A most distinctive songwriter, her blend of folk, country and soul explores common themes of love, angst and insecurity with sometimes abstract but always honest lyrics. Shelby has played in Megan Hamilton's Band Volunteer Canola. In the fall of 2005, they gained recognition when they opened for the Kentucky band My Morning Jacket at The Guvernment. Shelby sang on Megan's debut album Feudal Ladies Club, as well as Steve Puchalski's debut EP, Mood Lights.
Shelby Lamb’s second yet to be titled album will be released early spring 2009. Producer, band-mate and long time friend, Jesse Laine, recorded the twelve tracks at Ivy Laine Studio, Toronto. Same line-up as her previous album except for Ryan Gassi on drums.
Wrapped in an infusion of folk-tinged, psychedelic rock, this album promises to deliver. Stay tuned.
