biographical info
Shannon Lyon is an old time troubadour. He spent the better part of the '90's playing music
around his homebase of Kitchener, Ontario while often venturing across Canada on his own
or with friends such as Blue Rodeo, Oh Susanna, The Sadies, The Skydiggers and Richard Buckner.
Often living out of his van, honing his craft, feeding his wandering spirit, Shannon
released a series of well received records, each one coming closer and closer
to the vision of a Cosmic Canadian Music. Summer Blonde was the first defining moment.
A near perfect collection of songs with a superb cast of players.
Shannon then took the advice of a friend and headed to Holland, immersing himself in the culture,
playing the clubs in every nook and cranny and writing more and more. Dharma was the next record,
showcasing a lusciously acoustic sound.
2002. Two simultaneous releases. Bound and
Wandered. Bound is an acoustic "official bootleg" presenting one fine night with Shannon and a couple
of pals. It is stripped down, very live and very passionate.
A troubadour in his natural setting.
The latest studio release is Wandered. It features many of the
same songs as Bound, but in a studio setting with a full band.
The newest live cd is Someday Mourning. Recorded in Germany in 2003. One of those magic nights captured for all to enjoy.
Shannon continues to play live on a regular basis. Check www.shannonlyon.net for all the details !
