biographical info
Raw talent. Word smith. Lyrical mastermind. Quick creativity. Instant composition. Urban griot. To say that SepTo is a phenomenal MC would be to overlook the numerous unique qualities that make this hip-hop artist a true original.
Known as SepTo (“the T.O. is for Toronto”), this artist has been learning and mastering his craft while studying the music scene, handling his academics, and of course performing—and blowing audiences away on the airwaves and on stage with his talent. Guided and influenced along the way by some of Toronto’s hip hop legends, such as the voices of the Mighty Monolith movement, Sep has grown up a student of his art, and a scholar of performance.
An aggressive lyrical style, gifted thought processes, and intelligent ideologies, have shaped the tone and impact of Sep’s music. He is a rapper’s rapper. One that is hard…without being rigid. One that is clever…without being cocky, and one that is talented…effortlessly. Simply watching Sep perform and listening to his creations will easily bring industry experts and music consumers alike to the same conclusion: Sep represents the direction that true music lovers want to see hip hop go in, and he is destined to continue to rise to the top of his craft.
Sep is a freestyle master. Throw any combination of random words at him…and he will immediately develop a rhyme, a storyline, and a punch line. Add a few instrumentalists to that mix, or maybe the latest version of Reason, and he’ll compose an urban symphony. The skill of creation alone makes him an obvious anomaly amongst rappers and musicians—he’s that dope.
Sep commands the stage. While his initial demeanor appears to be thoughtful and reserved, his musical presence can captivate a room, and hook a crowd, instantaneously. He’s got something to say, and one can sense this right away. There’s a wisdom, there’s a confidence, and there’s a musician that can not be silenced.
Sep was all of these things and more, even before his much-anticipated album release. Sep’s [first??] studio album, Allergy Pills and Alcohol (aka Who Is Sep), was released on May 29, 2011 and features guest vocals from Sadat X, Rich Kidd, Grimace Love, Slakah the Beatchild, Black Cat and Korry Deez (of IRS), Wio-K, among others.
