Self Sufficient was conceived back in 2008 By Ryan Pennington, but it was little more than a concept until in 2009 when two guys, Ryan, and Riley, were down on their musical luck and searching for a band to play with. Although they had gone through heaps of people, none of them being what they were looking for, finally found each other within the depths of Craigslist. It was then that the spark of a great band finally ignited itself.

Being a duo, it was hard to express musical ideas to the fullest with only two people, so they decided to look for others to join them in their musical conquest. Over the course of a year, Ryan and Riley went through a number of different ads on Craigslist, hoping they'd find their golden egg in the never-ending pile of junk. A few promising people emerged, but they discredited themselves soon after and left, leaving both Riley and Ryan in a rage for having their time wasted again and again. They were both about to give up, when nearly a year after meeting each other the third member, Thelonius finally emerged in August 2010 and joined the musical mayhem known as Self Sufficient.

After 9 months of looking for their fourth member and rocking out, they found the perfect drummer, Patrick. This was what they had been looking for this whole time.

Now, the band is ready for full launch; our passions await us. This is Alpha Centauri, thrusters engaged.
