Scotty Hills is a Canadian singer/songwriter with briming soul. Growing up with ears sandwiched between his parent's(who met in a show band in the 70's) musical tastes. His mom's collection was mostly motown and R n' B, while his dad was all about Hoyt Axton and Ricky Skaggs.
In his teens, Scotty would steal his dad's guitar and play anywhere he could. He had a residence at many Saskatoon liquor stores.....as long as he got there on time before the lucrative spot was taken. He would play for people whatever they wanted to hear, or at least as much as he could pretend he knew.
This lead to Bud's on Broadway in Sakatoon, where Scotty would sneak in underage and listen to all the authentic blues band's coming up from Chicago. Scotty then heard Little Walter on the radio and fell in love with blues. Scotty picked up the drums and was hired by bluesman Nigel Mack.
"I was 19 and touring the states playing Chicago Blues Fest, and Buddy Guys Ledgends club, and playing with some of my heroes!"
This led Scotty to an introduction to Jason Nowicki of Winnipeg's 'the Perpetrators'. Scotty Toured with the Perps for the next 5 years, made two albums, and was bestowed with such accolades and a Juno nomination for best blues, two Maple Blues nominations, and two Western Canadian Music Awards.
He has Shared the stage with Taj Mahal, Downchild Blues Band, Buddy Guy, Hubert Sumlin, Teagan and Sarah, Shaun Verreault of Wide Mouth Mason, Jimmy and the Sleepers, Dojo WorkHorse, T money Green(Snoop Dog, the Dramatics), Wade O Brown(Ivanna Santilli), etc.
Scotty is currently in Calgary Alberta working on his second release.
"Abundant highlights fill this recording like a Christmas stocking. Its title track flashes with bluesy, neo-soul brilliance augmented by soaring guitar licks and the kind of falsetto harmonies that would make D'Angelo proud."
