Scott Valentine Presents...Seasons

57 Songs. 5 Discs. 1 Short Film. 1 Original Album Experience.

Scott Valentine is a 33 year-old singer/songwriter from Vancouver Island, Canada. His debut album, Seasons, is a truly unique undertaking. Scott wrote, performed, recorded, produced, designed and printed the album entirely on his own over a two year period. It’s a culmination ofthe pains and heartaches of his past and his hopes and dreams for the future; a document of thepeaks and valleys of human drama, as seen through his own life experiences.

Seasons consists of 4 CDs (one disc each for Spring, Summer, Autumn and Winter) and 1 DVD (Seasons: A Film Journey). 57 songs span across the four seasons, representing a young man’s expanding consciousness through the journey of his own mortality. The companion DVD, Seasons: A Film Journey, is a visual representation of the album realized in a well crafted, stylish, and professional short film. An extended, four-song, concept music video shot in HD.

Valentine creates an intensely personal feeling with his music that truly penetrates the heart and soul, generating astoundingly beautiful music. With an uncanny sense of melody, Scott's rich and soulful voice reveal an old-soul with a wisdom beyond his years. Accompanying his soaring baritone is a five-string, open tuned rhythmic guitar style all his own. His songs have an immediate sense of honesty and clarity that's all but lost in much of today's music. His natural and effortless folkiness somehow make him impossibly real and familiar, like an old friend delivering a message of hope that's hard to ignore.

As a young man, Valentine stumbled upon Ishmael; a wondrous little book that ultimately changed his life. Inspired by the book and its message, Scott decided to send a letter to the author, Daniel Quinn, explaining the impact his writing had on him."One month later, I received a phone call from Daniel inviting me to join he and his wife at their home in Houston, Texas. I accepted without hesitation and proceeded to spend the following sixmonths with him engaged in dialogue and discussion, becoming some of the most cherished and inspired times of my life."

Unbeknownst at the time, the experience provided Scott with a great spiritual strength he would later rely on to see him through the difficult times that lay ahead. Three months after returning home, Scott's only brother, Paul, was killed outside of a late-night fast food restaurant.

"While this tragedy is the greatest I've experienced, it is indeed a microcosm of the conflicts faced by others throughout the world each and every day. The loss of my brother has given me a strength to share the feelings, concerns, doubts and ideas that I believe many people hold close to their hearts."

"I believe the power of music can create change and push our societies further along in a journey of cultural evolution. I dream of witnessing firsthand the influence of honesty in modern music as it becomes less about the celebration of greed, sex and the accumulation of wealth, and more about people learning, growing, changing, and adapting to the trials of life with balance, respect and understanding."

"I hope Seasons can offer comfort and hope to people who desire something more from their life. I believe that hope does exist and is alive and well, burning just beneath the surface, even if the majority of the music industry has stopped looking to find it.”

Scott has recently returned to writing for his next yet unnamed solo release. He was recently selected to the Top 10 of 104.3 Shore FM's Sounds of Summer Song Contest in Vancouver with his third single, "Do It For Love."

Hope. Love. Truth. Redemption.

Thoughts about "The Environment"

posted by scottytuesday
Something to consider: We are not separate from the rest of The Community of Life. "The Environment" is not some faraway mythical land to which we have no connection unless we wander off to stand amidst a forest somewhere. With or without four walls and a roof to divide us, ALL life is woven into but one sacred web. It is not now, nor will it ever be our place to determine what is to be valued as more important to this fragile balance. In the words of one of my most beloved mentors: "The world does not belong to man. Man belongs to the world." I really hope to be present on the Playlist For The Planet and think my music is a perfect fit to accompany the goals that David Suzuki continues to work towards. From Here To There, scotty -Ishmael

Free Music Earth Day - Save The World

handing out 1,000 digital download "seedcards" on Earth Day, April 22nd, 2010 on the streets of Vancouver, BC. The cards are made from 100% post-consumer recycled junk mail and embedded with wildfllower seeds. I gave them out to complete strangers whom could, after redeeming the code entitling them to 19 of the songs from my album "Seasons" for FREE, plant th card in the soil, water it and flowers would grow once the paper harmlessly disintegrated. The kids get it. boy do the kids get it.
