biographical info
Schema Factor’s sound is, by design, difficult to categorize. Elements of EBM, darkwave, cyberpunk industrial, and sci-fi techno are all present to some degree, along with alien audio factors not found anywhere else. The resulting combination has a unique futuristic vibe that leaves listeners breathless. Organic elements of structure and harmony give the music its depth.
Originally influenced by metal-industrial groups such as Circle of Dust, KMFDM, Cubanate, and other artists such as Information Society and (early) Ministry, the sound has been more recently infused by gothic/EBM influences such as Negative Format, Apoptygma Berserk, Assemblage 23 along with many others.
Schema Factor is the brainchild of Leif Bloomquist, a prolific electronic composer and performer in Toronto, Canada. Leif was ‘classically trained’ in clarinet and percussion as a child, including several summers at the prestigious International Music Camp in North Dakota, USA.
Computer-based sounds, samples, effects and music have been a lifelong interest, even since the days of his Commodore 64.
In 1992 he began to build on his lifetime interest in electronic sounds, resulting in the creation of Schema - a virtual band consisting of himself, in 1994.
