biographical info

Saint Kris is an
unsigned hip hop artist residing in Winnipeg, Manitoba (Canada). The term humble
hip hop has been used by the public to describe his style because the honesty of
his music is what captures his audience. After years of developing his craft
through collaborative efforts, Saint Kris’ first official mixtape, entitled
“ExtraOrdinary” helped him break onto the local hip hop scene in 2010. Songs
such as Cool Ya Off and Broken Halo received frequent radio play on Streetz
104.7, the city’s dedicated hip hop and R & B radio station. From there, in
collaboration with Nice! Productions (a multimedia company), Saint Kris released
a music video titled Just to Get By which was featured on the website of
signature designer, Benny Gold. In preparation for releasing his new mixtape, a
blessing in disguise came in the form of the Youth Music Movement (YMM) and
their “12 Tracks” project. This was a nation-wide endeavor highlighting one
artist from each province in Canada. The music video they shot for Manitoba,
titled No Stress catapulted Saint Kris onto the music scene. Generating much
interest from various media outlets, Saint Kris was featured on CTV’S Breakfast
Television, CBC Prairie Playlist, CBC’s “The Scene”, www.CanadianMusic.com, and
Uptown Magazine’s “One to Watch”. Furthermore, the song was picked up by
Winnipeg’s number one hit radio station, Hot 103.1, and coined “song of the
summer”by radio personality, Ace Burpee. Additionally, through the exposure of
No Stress, Saint Kris was awarded the opportunity to open for ROC Nation’s J.
Cole: Cole World Tour. Saint Kris’ most recent work, the “BYOB” (Be Your Own
Being) mixtape presented by Oak & Oar (a local clothing company), stems from
the same theme of his first mixtape “ExtraOrdinary”. As ExtraOrdinary is a
play-on-words describing how he realizes he is just an “ordinary” man doing a
little bit “extra”, BYOB correlates with that theme in that he needs to be
himself in order to be the most successful.
