biographical info
Based in Victoria, BC,Switchgear was formed on September '97 following "Psionix Ionix", a MOD alias I used to make Protracker music on the Amiga. I had been working on "Mods" (sample based, 4 channel music) for about 3 years before the formation of SwitchGear and finally switched "group" names on the advent of the QY-70 (a portable MIDI sequencer/synth). Having had band lessons on the tenor sax, I had a little musical knowledge and could readily sight read sheet music. With the musical experience of band and the tracking experience of Protracker, I decided that MIDI was the path I shoudl follow.Starting with only a QY-70, I started to track at coffee shops and other such relaxing places. I began to accrue more and more gear and the production levels went up dramatically. The Songs on this site are recent endeavours and I am currently making enough tracks to fill my CD.
