biographical info

SISTER plays tender, heavy indie pop. It's the new Toronto-based band by Carla and Lynette Gillis, featuring Pete Johnston on bass. Raised in Halifax on their older sisters' classic rock records, the Gillis sisters started their first bands as pre-teens before going on to form the 90s indie rock band Plumtree, the pop-punk trio Absolutely Nothing, the dark pop band Bontempi and the Vancouver-Toronto long-distance experiment Bells Clanging. With Plumtree, they wrote the song "Scott Pilgrim" in 1996, which inspired the comic book series by Bryan Lee O'Malley. The movie version of that series, Scott Pilgrim Vs The World, hit theatres August 13. SISTER's debut EP was released August 17, 2010.
