biographical info
Fuck 1’s and 0’s - Shoebomber is all about deconstructing music and exploring the dark and mystic regions in between its discrete levels. Using analog electronics and acoustic instrumentation, Nimalan Yoganathan (also a member of Montreal noiseniks, Dead Bush) derives elements from and attempts to draw similarities between African protest music (such as the Mbira music of Stella Chiweshe and Chimurenga music of the Hallelujah Chicken Run Band), American hip-hop culture, early American southern gospel music and Tuvan throat singing. Shoebomber creates highly-textured minimal electronic music flourished with meditative drones and raggas, swirling tape loops, blunted organic beats and the occasional abrasive tweak, glitch or burst of noise. “Music is a language, you see, a universal language” – Sun Ra.
