biographical info
Reggae duo RudeBoy RudeGirl was formed by Alissa Klug and Newton Walker in 2007. The two first met when they were both recruited to play in the original reggae band SkyJuice, with Walker as vocalist and drummer and Klug on lead vocals and percussion. Jamaican-born vocalist/composer/percussionist Walker was raised on reggae music and has played with such bands as Mystique, Explorer Band and Bernie J. and Galaxy Band. He has worked with many international artists such as Sizzla, Blessed and Everton Blender. Vocalist/ percussionist/ guitarist Klug has been working with bands and musicians internationally since 1985 including recording an album of palm wine music with the legendary Koo Nimo in Ghana, West Africa in the summer of 2006, and opening three stadium shows with Samba Squad. Both being sound engineers and producers, the two decided to build tracks together in Walker’s Across De Trax recording studio. Their first single “Skaed me for Life” landed the #1 spot on the chart at CHRY radio and was played on stations in Toronto and in parts of Europe. With Walker coming from a reggae background, and Klug having been a vocalist of jazz, blues, Latin and indie rock, the sound that was formed by their collaboration was something never heard before.
