I'm incredibly grateful for this contest showing up at this time and validating what I've been doing now for a long time now: promoting environmental sustainability through music and song.
As Dr. Suzuki has said, and I've experienced, music and song are great ways to inspire people to action at a very profound level. When I hear folks singing my songs to themselves with choruses that include words like "biodiversity", "habitat" and "respect all life, take only what you need" I know I've helped foster a small shift in conciousness. What a gift!
It'so wonderful to have more people hearing these tunes thanks to the recognition accorded through this contest. And with a new album coming out in the next couple of months, my kids
getting independent, and my performance chops more honed, I'm ready to get these messages out to a wider audience.
Thank you Suzuki Foundation and CBC Radio 3 for this boost! And those of you who are listening to this music with a message. Much gratitude. You rock!
