Ryan LeBlanc is a progressive solo instrumentalist from New Brunswick with 20 years of playing experience. With his own original material, Ryan interlaces guitar, djembe, harmonica and banjo to produce a wide variety of upbeat and passionate musical pieces. Ryan is known for his innovative combinations of percussive and alternative musical styles that give his compositions an extremely earthy and organic quality.
Whole rooms often stop to watch Ryan’s unique strumming, hammering and tapping techniques that he combines with spellbinding percussive slaps to the body of his guitar and adjacent djembe.
His performance is truly memorable. During New Brunswick Music Week in April of 2004 Ryan was the only performer of more than 70 acts to receive a standing ovation for his showcase performance. A crowd of 300+ leap to their feet after his 2006 ECMA showcase.
Ryan has showcased at Canadian Music Week, NAFA Austin, Was selected for Rendezvous Folk 2005, and has performed at the Capitol Theatre in Moncton NB, at Paddlefest in St. Andrews NB, at Stanfest and the Saint John Jaz and Blues Festival and appeared at a number of special events. He has opened for Grammy Award winner Alison Brown and Canadian Jazz icon Oliver Jones and Flamenco Great Juan Martin
His most recent accomplishment is the release of his first album “Down Deep”. With up to three instruments being played simultaneously, this musical experience is truly captivating.
