biographical info
Rik Leaf began establishing his reputation as a captivating indie artist in 1998. His post-genre combination of electro-acoustic-indie-pop-rock, culturally-fueled socio-political performance rants, as well as touring with a collection of artwork from emerging Canadian artists, was described by Uptown Magazine as ‘the consummate art experience, absolutely worth checking out.’
Rik has toured constantly for seven years producing and participating in a variety of cultural initiatives with a number of organizations including War Child Canada, the United Nations and the Foreign Affairs Department of Canada. A humanitarian tour of war-torn Kosovo with Vanessa Redgrave and Bruce Cockburn solidified his commitment to improving the world through his artistic contribution, and fueled his performances in clubs, pubs, cafes, high schools, universities and First Nation Reserves across Canada ever since.
Rik has been featured on six internationally released compilation CDs as well as two independent full-length CDs, including ‘Trailerpark Opera’ with Tribe of One in 1998, and his first full-length solo recording ‘in 2 deep 2 stand’ in 2000. Tribe of One Records is excited to announce the upcoming release of Rik’s third full-length album ‘…now is the winter of our discontent’ in January 2006, featuring 14 brand new songs.
