biographical info
RamDac’s ethos, ‘spreading the electronic gospel’ has been the driving force in his life for the last 5 years, and manifests itself through various electronic music projects all ongoing in his hometown of Montreal. He is the founder of Montreal’s only [ cry :’( ] weekly IDM night, ‘Plateau Flexout’ which has been running for 18 months solid. He is also involved in several production projects ranging from his solo mission creating what he likes to call science-fiction beats to working with other producers and MCs and DJs from the local scene in Montreal. ‘Basement production’ has always been a beacon of interest in Ram’s life, from tinkering with rudimentary tracker programs in the early 90s on XT and 286 machines, to more advanced software like CEP and Ableton Live today, to hardware samplers, keyboards and drum machines, or simply spinning vinyl, it all comes back to ‘spreading the electronic gospel’ in any way possible. Whether it’s dropping a discombobulated beat at Flexout from the 1s and 2s, or jamming out an original from the lab, RamDac is on the front lines of the IDM fight in Montreal. Montreal, a city who, for the most part, considers the latest chart toppers from the mosaic of House to be the pinnacle of underground electronic music, the IDM crusade RamDac wages can be a trying one indeed. Despite the uphill battle, RamDac, and a few other brave souls in Montreal continue to plod on in the name of true leftfield electronic music.
