Qristina & Quinn Bachand
With three Canadian Folk Music Award nominations, three Irish Music Award nominations and two Irish Music Award wins for Top Traditional Group and Top Duo, all since 2009, Qristina and Quinn Bachand are quickly becoming two of the most important young musicians in the Folk and Celtic music world.
Twenty-one year old Qristina is an expressive and passionate fiddler, with a unique style that is both bold and edgy. Clearly at ease on stage, she consistently captives audiences with her spirited performance - showing her energy and her love of Celtic music. A talented and soulful vocalist, Qristina recently began adding songs to the duo's repertoire is is already receiving rave reviews.
With "diverse musical talents and a bottomless pool of creativity", sixteen year old Quinn has been called the "young lion of Celtic guitar" (Daniel Lapp). He is one of the most gifted and creative guitar players today, adding a contemporary edge to traditional Celtic music. His unique harmonies, hard-driving strumming, inventive chord voicing and powerful rhythmic effects make even the most well worn tunes seem new and exciting. An in demand sideman, Quinn has accompanied Canadian fiddling icons Ashley MacIsaac and Natalie MacMaster on a number of national and international tours that have taken him as far away as Australia.
Qristina and Quinn have released two critically acclaimed albums, "Relative Minors" (2008) and "Family" (2011). Qristina and Quinnh have performed at concerts and festivals across Canada, the United States and Europe. They have been featured on numerous national and international radio and television programs. Since 2007 they have shared the stage with some of the world's top musicians including Ashley MacIsaac, Le Vend du Nord, Battlefield Band, Lunasa, The Barra McNeils and many more.
