biographical info
ProCon was formed in Toronto, Canada by Count Feedback and Countess Christsmasher, a pair of unruly rockers with a musical pedigree and a fondness for vintage synths.
As members of the scene that spawned Peaches, Gonzales and Feist, ProCon established themselves as electronic misfits, mashing hook-ridden electro with punk rock attitude. Rather than joining the exodus to Berlin, ProCon holed up in their studio to record tracks for their first album, while becoming a sought after remix team, reworking tracks for fellow underground artists KidsOnTv, Stinkmitt, as well as New Wave Icons Duran Duran, and Paul Humphrey (Blue Peter). Their recent remix of “What Do They Know?” for Mindless Self Indulgence is currently #5 on the Canadian Soundscan singles chart.
ProCon’s self titled full-length reflects the duo’s wide and varied musical influences. The opening track “Foxhole” is a fitting tribute to the spirit of rock and roll, while “Cop Vs. Fireman” and “Networks or Die” echo the synth punk socio-politik of Devo. Not content to merely shock and amuse, the ProCon album also features the chic Eurythmics-esque electronic pop of their 2004 single “Drive On”.
ProCon deliver a full-on live show and were reviewed as one of the top ten bands of Canadian Music Week by Chart Magazine. Katalogue reviewed their appearance with Peaches as "bringing down the f***ing house!" ProCon has also shared the stage with Freezepop, Princess Superstar, Stinkmitt, and Hey Willpower, and appeared at DEMF and CMJ. With their recent gig as the openers on the Mindless Self Indulgence tour, ProCon has made the transition from nightclub act to stage warriors. Not content to pose and preen in front of their synths, ProCon shows are loud, visceral, aggressive, sweaty, and above all...LIVE!
“ProCon” will be available on Cochon Records, Redeye Distribution, and Outside Distribution May 1st. Extensive European and US return dates to be announced shortly….
