biographical info
Priya Thomas has been writing tunes in her bedroom since she was 11. She's flown happily under the radar in Toronto; and spends much of her time looking for inspiration, and blinding flashes of white light in her cramped home studio. Her new record, Priya Thomas is Blood Heron, is a swampy, ragged selection of confessional love songs.
"a potent and beautiful record. Songwriters of any stripe can only hope to release a record as strong as this." - Bill Adams, Ground Control, L.A
"uncompromising, half-broken songs as good as Tom Waits or anyone else" - Berkeley Place Indie Blog, Brooklyn, NY
"the album stands with some of the best homespun work by folks like Sufjan Stevens and Bruce Springsteen. With limited session players and garage sale instruments, the album simmers with ramshackle beauty." - Jason Lewis, FFwd Weekly, Calgary
"thunders with quiet clarity" - Brad Wheeler, The Globe and Mail
"both the chops and the nerve to hang with the Bob Dylans and Lucinda Williamses of the songwriting world" - Joshua deGroot, The Gateway Online, University of Alberta
"both seething and perfectly composed" - John Sakamoto, The Toronto Star
