Sandro Perri is a music maker from Toronto, Canada. Within the broad spectrum of his work are variations on new song, folk, electronic, dance, minimalism, jazz and rock. He has released more than a dozen solo and collaborative releases under his own name as well as as Polmo Polpo, Glissandro 70, Dot Wiggin and Continuous Dick. He started up a 12″ label (Audi Sensa) in 1999 but has since worked almost exclusively with Constellation. Other releases have come via Alien8, New Kanada and Intr_Version.
His 2007 release, Tiny Mirrors, was long-listed for the Polaris Prize in 2008 while the single "Double Suicide" was a finalist for SOCAN's Echo Songwriting Award. In 2005 he released a tribute to disco innovator Arthur Russell ("Kiss Me Again And Again") and in 2006 did vocal re-workings of his own electronic music on Sandro Perri Plays Polmo Polpo. His latest release, Impossible Spaces is an elegant synthesis of various musical approaches he has taken over the years.
Touring internationally since 2003, he has shared bills with an array of artists from Andrew Bird to Pan Sonic. Numerous festival appearances include All Tomorrow’s Parties, Nuit Blanche (performing Erik Satie's Vexations for solo piano), MUTEK, Wordless Music Series, MOMA PS/1 Warmup, Suoni Per Il Popolo and Tanned Tin.
He was a member of Great Lake Swimmers from 2002-2005 and has collaborated with others including Eric Chenaux, Fond Of Tigers, Woodpigeon, Mickey Moonlight and Zongamin. In the studio, Perri has provided various levels of assistance to Owen Pallett (w/ Grizzly Bear), Stephen Malkmus, The Acorn, Deep Dark United, Devon Sproule and many more.
