biographical info

Penny lives, loves, and sings within the Great Lakes-Saint Lawrence Watershed. She continues to learn from the examples of courageous environmental activists that much good work can be done through collective action. But ultimately, what is needed is personal re-orientation - in Fritjof Capra's words- a change in perception. We are not apart from nature, we are a part of nature. These songs reflect that sacred truth.

Gails Garden 3:23

Gails Garden

A tribute to urban gardeners and the food not lawns movement!

Hugged by a Tree 5:56

Hugged by a Tree

Without trees the earth would be a scary place, they hug us as we spin through the dark.

Caribou Dance 3:49

Caribou Dance

Lust for oil has sent humans into the wild spaces. Under the sea, this has led to disaster. The human hand reaching out to the northern caribou living space threatens to destroy yet another delicate balance. Creating false needs rather than being grateful for what we actually need, will ultimately lead to the destruction of those necessities.

World with Whales 7:16

World with Whales

A hymn to the beauty, majesty, and the too-often-forgotten sanctity of wild nature. Whales on the sea inhabit an important ocean in our collective imagination. This song celebrates this and is a wish for our children's children. A gallery of pictures accompanies the song.

Morning Crows 4:40
Earth Day 4:37

Earth Day

A lament for the short-sightedness and disconnect from nature that permits destructive activities to wound Earth, our body, our home.
