biographical info

Who in Quebec hasn’t heard about the Atach Tatuq collective? For starters with their brilliant Deluxxx, they won Best hip hop album at the Adisq gala in 2006, after capturing the equivalent at the Gamiq in 2005, while annually snatching trophies at the Montreal Underground Gala. Because of their legendary live shows, putting together ambitious productions with decors, costumes, dancers and live musicians, Atach Tatuq were showcased in the biggest music festivals ( Francofolies de Montréal, Festival d’Été de Québec, FME...). But after 9 years in the mega collective (they were a 14 members unit!), four of them broke the umbilical musical chord questing towards their new endeavour, Payz Play. Payz Play …but what does it mean? Literally it’s an order for the listener to hit that switch, turn on the power and get down with the Montreal “electrofrying” crew. For the rest of us, Payz Play is a rallying hymn to feel the dope music, drop to the boogie to slick vibes that climax wth swagger and sharpness. Basically, Payz Play is a call for an organic hip hop extravaganza, to bring a jam somewhere where no one has gone yet but everyone is naturally welcomed. For the budding scientists wanting to understand the PAYZ PLAY formula well PP= 2 SUPADEEJAYS (Naes & Ephiks) + 2 SUPA MCS (RU & Egypto). But since you can’t judge a meal by its ingredients, first thing is to get back to the music. DJ Naes a.k.a. Toast Dawg takes care of the lab, pushing that eighties vibe…but wait, we are talking next millennium eighties, about 2080, not that passéist microwaved eighties, that is when supra music didn’t exist yet. Good news, people with ears, like a request from a sci-fi scientist, Payz Play hits switches for the next movement, stretching conventional boundaries and acting to progress hip hop with a feel, with unconventionally themes, tastefully laid onto hard drums, creative melodies and with the evil combination between dirty bass and smooth synthlines… Just let the music Payz Play.
