biographical info

Patrick Molloy writes songs of hope over despair, backed by riff-driven melodies bursting with energy. With vocals ranging from gentleness to raw aggression, his is a voice that demands attention.

From the depths of the St. John’s underground arises Molloy’s new band, “The Manifest”. The first collaborative project of the MANIFEST is near birth, WHO WILL LISTEN? Produced by Canadian Gold and Platinum award winner, Krisjan Leslie, this album screams whispers into the ears of the listener. The title track, "Who Will Listen?" has already given Molloy National acclaim as the Regional Winner (NL) of the Radio Star National Songwriting Competition.

PM&M’s energy is potent with dynamics that channel the listener on a profound musical trip.  The Manifest squirt a psychedelic aftertaste in your mouth that will leave you craving more. With their thumping groove and lyrical vision The MANIFEST represent the universes call for PEACE, NOW, TODAY. “WHO WILL LISTEN?” consists of refrains aimed at greedy leaders, anthems of karmic consequences and revolutionary ballads pleading for harmony. PM&M are the last glimmer of hope left for a planet drowning in fear and hypocrisy.

Come follow Patrick Molloy & the MANIFEST on the revolutionary road of a better future through music. WILL YOU LISTEN?

It's All Happening

It’s All Happening….

Well, the album has not even been released yet, but some exciting things are already happening. It started with a text message from a friend about a month ago. I woke to the buzzing of my phone, so I rolled over, picked it up and it read, “Holy shit man, you won….crazy”. I really had no clue what the hell he was talking about.

For the last 5 years or so I have been submitting to the Radio Star National Songwriting Competition. This December as I was driving back to work from lunch I heard on K-Rock (Local radio station who accepted submissions) that the deadline for this year’s competition was that day at 430PM. At the time, the mixes of my album were not complete, but were still better than anything I had submitted in previous years. With nothing to lose, I burned 3 of my songs (“Who Will Listen?”, “Walk Proud” and “Wake Me”), printed the lyrics of each song and filled out an application.

On my way home from work I visited K-Rock’s office and dropped off my package at the very last minute. The nice lady at the front desk looked me right in the face with a big smile and said, “You are going to win, I can feel it”. It immediately gave me a cold shiver and made me realize, you know what, I think the songs have what it takes this time around. So, I thanked her and headed off on my way home.

To be completely honest I never thought about the competition after that; until I awoke to that annoying buzzing of my cell phone. So, I called my buddy and asked what he was talking about. He was laughing his face off because I was completely oblivious as to what he was so excited about. He told me that I was announced the Regional Winner of the Songwriting Competition. Shortly thereafter I received a call from Chris Batstone who formalized the announcement. I must say, it was all very exciting!

So, this gave me a bunch of nice prizes and a free flight to Toronto for Canadian Music Week where the National Winner will be announced. I will be showcasing during my time there and also taking in a bunch of events, seminars and workshops.

One week prior to CMW I will be in Sydney, NS showcasing on the MIA Fest II Stage and meeting with a number of international delegates. I requested meetings mostly with Industry representatives in the TV and Film industry. As a songwriter/recording artist who does not have the ability to tour extensively, I feel this is the best way for me to create revenue streams. Hopefully things transpire…

Just the other day I received an e-mail from a bar owner in Corner Brook, NL who informed me that he was holding an event called spring fling from April 7th-10th. On the 10th the main act at the Pepsi Center will be the Flaming Hoops, Brian Byrne & Christian Tanna from I Mother Earth, Jerry Finn of David Usher Band and Chuck Dailey of The Salads. One of the opening acts will be local Rock Legends, the Catch and Patrick Molloy & The Manifest will be the other opener. We are very excited for this show because it will be the biggest gig we will have played as a band at that point.

Following this gig the Juno’s will be starting in St. John’s, NL from April 12-18th. We have not been awarded a showcase at this point, but are anticipating a couple of performance opportunities. So, following that we will have our official cd release party!

So, there you have it. Some very exciting news for PM&M. This blog allows me to write my thoughts without worrying about length and having a perfect pitch. This is for the fans that actually care about these details, so thanks for hanging in there. I will sincerely try to keep this updated for you all.

Please check www.patrickmolloy.ca for details of all the showcases that I spoke of and to listen to the entire album for free!

Thanks for reading Manifestations!Peace, Love and MusicPatrick
