Voices and other noises were made by Tim Crabtree...
Paper Beat Scissors spawned from the bedroom compositions of uprooted-Brit Tim Crabtree. The music centres around finger-picked guitar and haunted vocals. The lyrical themes, often obsessing on communication-breakdown, become blocked and unclear as the voice melds into the instrumentation, occasionally cutting to the forefront with a clear, scattered image.
On the live scene the last two years have seen festival headline slots, coast-to-coast Canadian tours and a couple of European tours for good measure. March 2012 saw the release of the self-titled debut album. Receiving serious critical acclaim, the album was produced by Mike Feuerstack (Snailhouse, Bell Orchestre) and mixed by Jeremy Gara (Arcade Fire).
The project has also garnered accolades for the Flicker video by stop-motion animator Chris Tootell (Tim Burton's Corpse Bride, Coraline).
