POS. What does it stand for?
Also known as the Phreaks, POS is more than just a collection of some of the most diverse artists in the lower mainland. It is a collaboration of friends that have come together to work with and inspire each other. Founded in Vancouver in ‘98 by Werd 1, POS established a name for itself through graffiti. Through the following years POS became ingrained into the minds of hip hop heads around the city (as well as annoyed business owners) for being active in graffiti and mural projects. When graffiti wasn’t enough to voice what POS had to say we turned to the music to express our opinions and ideas. With hundreds of recordings under the belt, POS decided in 2003 to put together a compilation of their most accomplished recordings. The result is the Buckslice Compilation, the crew’s first public release.
Over the past 7 years people have joined and left POS, leaving the current count at 30+ members. Though all of POS posses unique styles and ideas, we can associate, relate and collaborate through Hip Hop. Since 2001, POS has been gaining exPOSure through live performances, radio shows, media coverage, and distribution of free burned CD-R’s. POS has performed alongside such artists as Brassmunk, Tonedeff, Cunninlynguist, DJ Green Lantern, Langdon Auger, Kaboom, Emotionz, AMP, Ndidi Cascade, Dj Moves, Kia Kadiri, Manik, Dj Phonograff, and Usual Suspecs just to name a few.
