biographical info

PONCTUATION is a band of brothers struck by garage music, inspired by the '60s feverishness - who deliver their unique psychedelic freakouts as if there was no tomorrow. Since lo-fi doesn’t scare them one bit, the prolific duo released a debut EP on tape (yes) during summer 2011, which encourages excessive foot tapping, with French lyrics talking about girls wearing miniskirts and artists eating hors d’oeuvres (we think it’s a comment on freeloading.)

PONCTUATION is piling up live performances, touring between Quebec’s dense regions, from Festival OFF de Québec to Pop Montreal, where they garnered ecstatic press attention.  They also shared the stage with commonly inclined bands, such as CHEVEU, Duchess Says, The Pack AD and Jesuslesfilles. DIY enthusiast, the combo is about to release a second EP (on vinyl, yes), titled Lèche-vitrine, in November 2011, completely self-produced. We could go on about their plain crazy performances, their catchy riffs and the best new something something tag that’s been following their path, but others have written about it better, in various publications. Here are their praisings - freely translated from French, mind you:

"Excellent catchy songs, great psychedelic guitar playing from Grille, a sound wet with echo, metronomic drum playing by Max ... God knows we heard enough guitar-drums bands, but PONCTUATION goes beyond the formula. "
Olivier Lalande, Nightlife Magazine

"They’re part of a handful of French bands who master the art of live performance, filed under “fantastic things hailing from Quebec City makin’ some good noise” - another exclusive club and, in this case, not too far behind Les Secrétaires Volantes. The Chiasson brothers carry their dancy punk bombs as a duet (...) Best new group of the year? I think so …”
Benoît Poirier, Bande à part (CBC)

"I was truly impressed by the two band members’ sheer display of talent. I wasn’t disappointed with the change of atmosphere. The boys offered a garage rock edge with inspired guitar riffs and an aggressive but dead-on drumming. Excellent lo-fi harmonies. I’m freaking out.”
Julie Ledoux, Bang Bang
