biographical info

Piper McKinnon is a spry poetic female singer and songwriter from the west coast of Canada. Originally from Victoria BC, she now makes her home across the Straight in Vancouver. The daughter of a Canadian Navy petty officer, McKinnon moved around a lot when she was younger. In her teens, some friends dared her to get up and sing a song at a blues jam in Victoria, “Love Me Like a Man” by Bonnie Raitt. They had no idea what they were starting. The crowd demanded an encore, and the seed was planted.

McKinnon’s song writing and beautiful natural tone draw comparisons to musical icons such as Tori Amos, Kate Bush, Jewel, and Jeff Buckley. Her music and inquisitive nature can also reveal a dark side, an expression of her observations of the world and those who disregard important messages and thus negatively impact its well-being. If McKinnon’s muse were to assume physical form, it might look like one of Lucifer’s fallen angels: beautiful, brooding scorched by the flames of an epic battle.
