biographical info
PG - is not your ordinary female artist. When you are
as focused, disciplined, and hungry as she is, you are no longer ordinary. As a
product of a single-parent household, PG - born Peta-Gaye Duff - quickly grew
independent and self-sufficient. Born in Portland, Jamaica, and growing up in
the Downtown, Toronto, she was no stranger to the fast pace lifestyle. Her
voyage with music began with choirs in school and church; soon after her voice
became recognized. She is strong-willed, much like the artists who influence
her; Lauryn Hill and Jasmine Sullivan, to name a few. Naturally she exudes a
confidence that is almost intimidating to some. Juggling basketball, school, and work made it
hard for PG to make time for music. As she grew older she began to realize her
real passion, music, and became more focused on her ability's to sing and rap. Winning
numerous talent shows, being an emcee for S.T.O.M.P Urban Dance Competition,
and performing at different youth based events, has made her no visitor in her
community. This outspoken young woman knows what it means to work hard and be
rewarded. A part of the Lady Saints Basketball team who has won two OFSAA gold
medals and managing the Sr. Boys Saints team has taught and allowed PG to be an
active leader. It is not the fact that PG creates music that makes her artistry
captivating; it is the fact that she really understands it. She displays the
type of musicality and leadership required to develop her career into one of
longevity and significance and her dedication shows through in her music. PG will
be releasing a Mix Tape and EP in 2009, with the hopes of creating a "buzz" and
proving that Urban Music is possible in Toronto. PG says "I
need to be surrounded by people as passionate and as dedicated as I am" as
she is continually honing her craft alongside her team at Vital Dexterity
Records (VDR).
