artist Pete Webb

Born in the tiny Quebec town of Huntingville, Pete Webb started his music career after moving to Southern Ontario with his family. He earned a diploma in Audio Recording Engineering at the Ontario Institute of Audio Recording before embarking on a career as a solo performer. In 1991, he assembled the Pete Webb Group and recorded his debut CD Mileage. No Exit, the group’s second album, was released in 1992. Pete gigged extensively in Nashville in 1993, then toured Germany in 1994 and 1995 before moving to London, England, where he was based from 1995 to 1996. In England he released two more albums, Huntingville (recorded in Canada with the Pete Webb Group), and Things Are Bound to Change (recorded in London in a one-day solo-acoustic session). After moving back to Canada, Pete took a break from music to pursue visual art, theatre, and literature. In 1998, he resumed songwriting and performing, which led to his next two CDs Happy Accident (1999) and Live at the Oak (2002). In 2006, after re-issuing several of his early albums and releasing the EP Sister, Pete toured Canada and began writing and demoing new songs in Toronto and Ottawa. In November 2006, he released his seventh full-length album, Counting Time: Selected Songs, a retrospective of his career that includes two new songs and a previously-unreleased outtake.
