biographical info
After 20 years fronting various pop/punk/rock combos on Canada’s west coast, head Sweater Pete Campbell steps out from behind the wall of sound with his debut solo CD. On “My Cool Heart”, Pete dramatically defies expectations giving us five intensely personal songs with no hint of irony.
With nothing to hide behind but his acoustic guitar, songs like “My Phoney Valentine” and “No One Knows Anything About Love” reveal a depth of feeling and a lyrical directness that may surprise fans of Pete’s more tongue in cheek pop-musings.
But what separates Pete from all the other punk rock singers turned “sensitive-guy” troubadours? The press can’t tell you yet. That’s why Pete’s friend Thérèse Starck (who did the drawing on the CD cover) offered to give her review of “My Cool Heart”:
“Pete’s solo work renders a clarity of singing and lyrical honesty that is emotional and touching and allows the listener to catch every nuance…(Thérèse Starck)
