biographical info
Over the
Coals, originally hailing from the isolated northern town of Prince George,
British Columbia, pride themselves on delivering aggressive, thrash metal music
in a raw and brutal form, all the while adhering to rock-based riffs and
gripping rhythms. In-your-face drums, as well as burly, menacing vocals gives
the music its edge and compliments a bass style that runs the gamut from Black
Sabbath through Led Zeppelin to Rush and a searing guitar style that’s equally
memorable whether holding a steady groove or lashing out in pure sonic chaos.
Over the Coals are now showcasing their roughhewn brand of heavy metal in
Vancouver, British Columbia – one of Canada's premiere cities and musical
environments.
Following
the release of their debut LP, entitled ‘Declaration’, Over the Coals found
much success on the road through a number of gigs in bars, clubs and all age’s
venues across Western Canada. The band was able to dramatically increase their
fan base through touring as well as radio play in Canada, the United States,
Europe and Australia, where the singles ‘Legion’, ‘Now I’ve Seen It All’, and
‘Assault & Battery’ garnered serious attention and positive feedback. Now
on the heels of ‘Declaration’, Over the Coals have finished composing material
for their as of yet untitled follow up LP and are currently in the studio
recording the album with a spring 2008 release in their sights. The band have
debuted some of the new material at select shows throughout the fall and
winter, and the response has been incredible. Fans of the band are already
chomping at the bit in anticipation of the next release. Having spent countless
hours dissecting the highs and lows of their debut album, the band has enhanced
their overall sound and performance. The new material is, as a result, much
more diverse than what is found on ‘Declaration’, and elevates the elements of
groove, technicality and songwriting to an intense new level.
