Oliver the Great is Chris Parasiuk, Bryan Greenfield, Anthony Mclachlan, Eric Osborne, and Nick Fourestier. With the exception of Nick, Oliver the Great (under the name Machinekid) moved to Montreal from Calgary in the fall of 2009 to be immersed in the city's vibrant music scene. Nick started playing with them in the late spring of 2011 just in time to start working on their first album, which was recorded and produced in their living room. Musically they put emphasis on expressing an overall idea, whether that be a laid-back rhythm, a demanding tempo, or a lyrical journey. Their live-set has been described as a "cardio workout for the senses, with their sound being steamy and sensual, at times aggressive, and accented with whimsy and playfulness."
