This week I sang my heart out and, boy, did it hurt. First, me and the boys were filmed by the great folks at Country Music Television playing a concert just for them at the Dakota Tavern. I got all dolled up including lace and false eyelashes pretended it was a steamy Saturday night rather than a frigid Tuesday morning. It will air on May 9th. Not sure what time but maybe someone in charge will tell you later in this newsletter. Then on Wednesday I joined Tom Wilson in Michael Timmins' Clubhouse Studio to play the "dustbowl housewife" on his upcoming Lee Harvey Osmond album. I hope I don't end up on the cutting room floor. But even if I do it is all worth it just to spend 4 hours with Tom and his big big...personality. Another exciting thing this week is that I have hard copies of the new album in my hot little hands. It looks incredible thanks to Patrick Duffy (yes, the former star of Dallas now designs album art). But if you eschew albums these days and prefer all that is digital you are in luck because if you buy the new album on April 19th on iTunes you will receive a bonus track that has gorgeous orchestration arranged by the legendary Van Dyke Parks whose collaborators include Randy Newman, Brian Wilson, Rufus Wainwright, Robert Altman, Fiona Apple and Albert Einstein. Joining the band were Bazil, Cam, Gord Tough (guitar), Burke Carroll (pedal steel) plus guest musicians Kendel Carson, who was in town for The Juno celebrations and offered to join our motley crew, and Jim Cuddy who sings with Suzie on “Lucky Ones”.
