biographical info
Felix Richer and Max Chapados take their collective
name from the dark era of the atomic age. Created
during the Cold War for militay purposes, the ‘Nuclear
Ramjet’ is in fact the most controversial form of
propulsion ever invented. In the spirit of harnessing this
potentially dangerous technology and transforming it
into its most beneficial form, Nuclear Ramjet venture
to where few Canadian bands have gone before: the
deep reaches of uncharted space.
With releases on respected labels such as Ascend,
Iboga, Hadshot, Turbo Trance, Ultimae and Paul
Oakenfold’s Perfecto, Nuclear Ramjet’s stated mission
is to bring innovative sounds to the discerning masses,
and they’ve been doing that since their formation in
1997.
“Age of Aquarius” (their first album), was released
a year later, and its lush blend of analog and digital
sounds was extremely well received. Their second
album “Music for Spaceports” followed in 2001, and
was critically acclaimed on an international level; it
received critical acclaim in Mushroom Magazine and
other publications and it remains a landmark in the
North American electronica scene.
Nuclear Ramjet (aka Aeon and Miracle Flash) have
been touring across the country, headlining all major
festivals (such as Shambhala, Evolve, Om, and Eclipse)
since 1997.
They are now releasing a third album. Their latest
transmission takes the listener from the confines of
terrestrial life on a musical trajectory towards the outer
limits of space and time. After two years of intensive
research, probe launches, and general preparation,
team Ramjet are finally ready to embark on their most
sensational adventure to date.
Cinematic and futuristic in its sonic conception,
“Mission to Sedna” is pure rocket fuel for the dance
floor generation. The album was launched February
2006.
In January 2007, the group joined Noerg Production, a
non-profit organisation that represents and promotes
a group of local artists.
Their live set is composed of a stunning hybrid of
techno and live processed instruments supported by
a unique blend of film footage. Just remember: you
too can dare to touch the stars!
