biographical info
New Teeth is kinetic energy. New Teeth is sweating and screaming for more. New Teeth is every fibre of our bodies having the time of their lives.
We put everything we have into you, and we love it. We want our music to be a part of you and your life as much as it is a part of us and ours. Enjoy us as we enjoy you.
New Teeth are a rock and roll dance band. Their formation began in the squalor and beer-stained hallways of a university residence in the Canadian capital. When guitarist Lucas MacKenzie met drummer Will Staunton, they quickly became collaborators. In 2008 the duo enlisted the help of violinist Aria Leroux to play acoustically at an open mic at the Avant Garde Bar. Soon the band grew to include bassist Matthew Gilmour, flushing out the developing yet eclectic sound. After a highly successful headlining gig at the Avant Garde, as well as two well attended shows at Zaphod’s, New Teeth were ready for the transition from live stage to recording booth. This transition would see shifts in membership and sound, as violinist Aria Leroux and the band parted ways in late 2008.
Now settling into a three piece dynamic, the band hunkered down at Gallery Studios with Arturo Brisindi in February 2009 to record their debut self-titled EP. Since then they have played shows at Maverick, Café Dekuf, Umi Café and again at Zaphod’s.
They have shared stages with the likes of Immaculate Machine, the Josh Reichmann Oracle Band, The Reason, Rich Aucoin and the D’Urbervilles, as well as hometown heroes such as Amos the Transparent, Bear Claps, Paramedics and The Property Line.
Currently, they are writing new material and seeking out new and exciting opportunities to showcase their visceral and highly kinetic live show. A trio with big sound, bigger dreams and enormous dedication, New Teeth promise to knock the wallflower within you unconscious and provide the soundtrack to any rock and roll dance party anywhere, anytime.
