biographical info

Neuseiland Charles Austin - Guitar, Vocal Andrew Glencross - Keyboard, Guitar, Vocal Joel Plaskett - Drums, Pedal Steel Guitar Tim Stewart - Bass Drew Yamada - Guitar, Keyboard, Vocal Neuseiland was formed in 1998 out of the remains of many of Halifax, Nova Scotia's most interesting bands (including the Superfriendz, Coyote, the Euphonic, and Thrush Hermit). The name of the band is derived from a Dutch children's book by Annie Schmidt called The Island of Nose. The original aim of the band was to combine conventional song structure with experimentation inspired by krautroche, stoogian protoplasm and the subtractive mixing techniques of "version" reggae. On further investigation of the terrain (which proved pretty tough to navigate) Neuseiland embarked on their own crooked path (whatever that means). Neuseiland has since shared stages with musicians as diverse as Trans Am, Richard Buckner, Colin Newman (Wire), the Smugglers, the Guthries, Buck 65 and Al Tuck.
