DAN WHITTAL: Vocals and Guitars
LIAM WORTHINGTON: Bass and Backing Vocals
ALLAN HEPPNER: Drums and Vocals
When My Mother the Carjacker first started jamming in 2009, genre was thrown out the window and all that was focused on was letting their inner energies flow with each other.
The spirit of MMCJ's music is deeply rooted in the vein of punk, rock, jam and grunge (Nirvana, Queens of the Stone Age, Rise Against, System of a Down, Ninjaspy), but the songwriters are unafraid of melding any form of music into their songs as long as it's enjoyable, accessible and has the right feel. Jazz, funk, grunge and 30's big band fused together? No problem. Ramones-esque punk, avant-garde and 60's bop? You got it. Straight up alternative rock? Hey that's fun too! MMCJ's goal is two-fold = create great songs and have fun!
While there is an emphasis on musical freedom, one thing is clear, and that is to keep the energy and love of ALL music going. When you go to an MMCJ gig, expect to dance, mosh, rock out, laugh, cry and feel feelings you've never felt before.
As of Fall 2011, MMCJ has performed in numerous venues around Vancouver, have accumulated almost 2 albums worth of song and are currently recording their debut EP with producer Brody Mudryk at Standstill Productions Studio.
