biographical info
Mongoose is a rock outfit comprised of East Vancouver's RC (vocals), Shockk (guitar), Johnny Wildkat (bass), and a host of supporting drummers. Their musical approach combines the visceral approach of bands like the Stooges or early AC/DC with off-the-leash progressive musical insight ala Rush or Bad Brains. Popular contemporary sonic peers include My Bloody Valentine and Arctic Monkeys.
Like the creature they are named after, you will know Mongoose to see or hear them, they are distinctive in appearance and call. Ask the locals who may have spotted Mongoose in the vancinity, and they will likely regale you with tales of a memorable live show and exceptionally well dressed creatures taking the stage.
Mongoose, the band, has been battling deadly cobras on stages across Canada since the release of 2003's White Plastic Deer. In that time, the 'Goose have played upwards of 270 shows - sharing the stage with the likes of D.O.A., Ten Second Epic, Protest the Hero, C'mon, Tricky Woo, A Textbook Tragedy, The Black Halos, Billy Joe Green, and many more. Canadian campus radio has charted them at #1, and Mongoose has licensed tracks to Nickelodeon and a handful of indepen-
dent film projects.
The sophmore record called "Are You On My Side" was released in 2009. The newest release, "Rock The Boat" was released Nov 1, 2011 on Southernwinter Records. Recorded at the Warehouse Studio in Vancouver. Produced by Eric Mosher and Mongoose.
