Halifax based group, MIR, is releasing 18 brand new songs in 18 consecutive weeks! This weeks new song is Taking U Home".

Shehab Illyas on "Taking U Home":  

"2005: We were on a dusty road on the way to the tsunami sites in Sri Lanka to find out how the money we raised at the Tsunami Concert in Halifax was spent. The smell and heat felt familiar though I had not been back in over 15 years. Asif asked me to pull the guitar out of the case. He started to strum and was fiddling around with a melody. I liked it and we worked on it while bumping along the jungle roads. I was trying not to get sick by watching the chords as he played on the guitar (I have severe car sickness and I can't read or concentrate on anything else but the road) . That melody I heard above the hum of the diesel engine ended up becoming " Taking U Home"...written in the country that used to be "home" when we were young...."  

"This song, in the end, turned out to be a song about strength in numbers...and that, even if it's a simple romantic relationship, teamwork will always get you through." - Asif Illyas

A few words about "In the Shadows" from writer, Asif Illyas:

" I swear that this is 100% true: One evening, a friend and I were pointlessly navel-gazing and complaining about being unrecognized; you know, the wholly absurd "plight of the artist" debate. Well, as a result, that night I had a strange, strange, very vivid dream... I dreamt I was filling in as singer for a strange band that needed one and rehearsing in our manager's barn in the country. I didn't know any of their songs so I had to teach them one of  "mine". I proceeded to show them the chords, melody, words, etc., and we jammed out the tune for a bit...then I woke up.......with the song I was showing them still ringing in my head....which had never existed before this dream.....  I immediately grabbed my guitar and played/sang it -- the song was the chorus of "In the Shadows" exactly as you hear it on the album...it was really freaky....it's quite a personal song for me...I hope the friend I wrote this for is "out of the shadow".....oh well, sometimes all it takes is a dream..."

MIR will release one new song each week from their forthcoming album,"OK2GO!".

The previous three songs from the new album, were "Promise Me", "Say It's Alright" and "Run Away".  These songs have already garnered some radio play and media attention without being serviced as singles or focus tracks.

All four tracks can also be heard and purchased online now!

"OK2GO!" was recorded and produced by the three group members in their own Halifax, Nova Scotia based studio, The Shire.
