biographical info
Mick Daniel and the
Raynmen - a rootsy, hard-hitting quartet that can fit easily into a
rockabilly/cowpunk/alt country or even classic rock venue/category.
The
songs range from poignant to light-hearted in theme, with Mick's sense
of humour - sometimes dark, sometimes silly - sneaking in where you most
and least expect it.
They're a little bit country ... a little
bit rock and roll ... a lot rootsy ...
Based in Calgary, many of
their songs have a western-Canadian flavour and references to local
places and topics.
On Friday, June 12, 2009 the band was showcased
on 1060 Classic Country in Calgary, Canada.
On September 10, 2009, AR Select, an A&R
company based in Los Angeles released this review of MDR's EP, "Alberta
Beef":
"With
shout outs to old school in-your-face no-nonsense bands like the
Outlaws, Mick Daniel and the Raynmen throw down some terrific, hardcore
bar band flavors on their splendid duo of ep’s. “Lost in Love” is a
scrumptious guitar smorgasbord of melody. The follow up track, “Cowpunk
Boogie”, does nothing to disappoint the direction of rock and roll
momentum. Overall, from start to finish, a solid group of old school,
sweaty, get’up’dance gems!"
