MICHAEL DIMITRI:
Some of you reading this might be saying to yourself, Michael Dimitri, I know that name but where do I know it from? Mari timers will remember Michael as the front guy from the band ‘THE FAX’ then ‘CHALICE’ for a short while, then of course there was the ‘DIMITRI’ band, then ‘DOUBLE TALK’ and their hit 'DON'T GIVE UP' Many people throughout Canada might have heard the song ‘CARE FOR THE CHILDREN’ which he wrote, recorded and performed for the first airing of CBC’S CHILDREN’S MIRACLE NETWORK TELETHON in the late 80’s which was the show’s theme song for 3 years and helped raise over twenty million dollars for Children’s Hospitals. Others may remember him as Musical Director and band leader for the children’s television show
‘SOMETHING ELSE’ for Global television, still others may know him from the film 'INCOGNITO' along side JASON PATRICK or the voice of the army of ants in SPIELBERG'S ANTZ or recognise his name and his song 'WHERE DID IT ALL GO WRONG' which is currently climbing the charts on NEIL YOUNG'S songs for our times list, but no matter where you might know the name Michael Dimitri from and for those few who don’t know him or can’t remember the 80’s, his brand new CD entitled ‘THIS IS ME’ on OPTIMUM RECORDS is to be released on March 12th 2007. His music which is being called 'Rockin' Country Soul is totaly unique.
Michael has been living in Europe. He has starred in 5 West End Musicals whilst there including 'ELVIS THE MUSICAL, where he portrayed 'THE KING' and has continued to make and write music, he will be coming home to Canada this Summer to tour with his band of world class players as soon as he secures Canadian distribution, which he is looking for presently.
