MELANKOLYA is the solo project of composer, songwriter and performer Christian Norton, from Montreal, Canada, founded in 2003. His songs have a strong classical influence and a dark lyrical subtext evoking Nick Cave, The Tear Garden, Depeche Mode, Rob Dougan, Front Line Assembly and others.
Melankolya’s first album entitled NEVER ENDING WINTER has been released on August 6th2011, co-produced by Peter Murphy from Bauhaus.
On stage, various musicians join Christian to give a more classical edge to the music with instruments such as double bass, cello, violin and piano.
Christian also composes musical scores for short films and videogames, collaborates with other musicians and lends his voice to a variety of projects.
