biographical info
Mamaguroove is a sonic and scenic smorgasbord of aural intensity and imagery infatuation. The sound of the Guroove envelopes and grips the senses of it's audiences from the first crack of the snare drum, and drives them headlong through a universe of musical styles ranging from Latin/flamenco based rock to reggae, funk, folk, worldbeat, and even metal to form a style of music yet to be named. Spine-tingling, ethereal lead vocals and harmonies merge with symphonic guitar riffs and blistering rythms and wild, rich, and full saxophone. The melody rides proud and strong upon a tidal wave of impossibly tight, driving drums and flawlessly smooth fretless bass.
The three vocalists are as different from each other as they are complimentary. From Chris' "Deeper than Barry White" rumble; to Seth's impassioned battle cries; to Shara's silky, seductive siren's call: Each voice speaks alone and together of the conviction in their lyrics. For Mamaguroove is all about the songs. Carrying with them an intensity and honesty found rarely in today's music, Mamaguroove's songs speak with sometimes brutal honesty of the insanity of our society, of the immediate need for humanity to change, and of hope for a better way of life. What better way to influence others than to be the change we want to see in the world. Mamaguroove is striving towards a sustainable way of life. From growing our own organic produce, to processing waste vegetable oil into clean-burning Bio-Diesel to power our touring vehicle, to hosting sustainable living and renewable energy workshops on our property , we are committed to becoming responsible humans. Mamaguroove has 4 Cd releases under the belt, the last of which was released in June 2011 "Songs For A Blue Planet".
