biographical info

After a playing with Henri Faberge and The Adorables and Proof of Ghosts, Kelly-Sue (Mal de Mer) decided to concentrate on her own music. Since then Mal de Mer has had the opportunity to play with many wonderful musicians who have offered up their services for shows such as Ben Quinn (The Davey Parker Radio Sound), Matthew Richmond (Lunchmeat) and Paul Banwatt (Woodhands and Rural Alberta Advantage) to name a few. Mal de Mer have played shows with many amazing bands such as Township Expansion, Maylee Todd(HFATA), The Incidentals (Jesse James Laderoute), Andy Lloyd(HFATA, Caribou,Born Ruffians), Proof of Ghosts(Steve Shoe) to name a few. Kelly-Sue draws from her Maritime upbringing and her celtic music background ...along with many terrible relationships.

Just another artist with no money.

So what makes me any different? Probably nothing! I am just another artist with no money, no proper recording, no proper pictures and probably no real fans, just friends who humour me...I have had the priviledge to get very involved in music in Toronto and to meet some very amazing people who have were kind enough to lend me their skills now and again. For that I am grateful. Where am I now? St.Catharines. Since moving here I am unsure how to continue. I made a little place for myself in Toronto, I knew where to play, who to call for band fill ins, who to ask to take photos. Here, I know nothing! I see alot of screamo bands and I have no interest in that. I am sure there is a folky scene here somewhere but they seem to have their own little clique going on. Where does that leave me? I have no idea. Without the money to record to try and promote myself, my bird, two bunnies and my husband are my only audience. I am happy though. (which poses a whole other problem when it comes to song writing)
